We were notified that Friday, April 15th, 2016 our dossier was officially submitted to the IBESR (social services) in Haiti! Though we completed our dossier more than one year ago, we have been in line waiting for our dossier to be submitted to the IBESR due to Haiti’s quota and their stricter enforcement of said quota.
And now the real wait begins… Now, we start waiting on a referral from Haiti’s government. Our representative at America World Adoption told us that the estimated wait time from dossier submission (4/15/16) to referral is 12-24 months. Although that doesn’t seem very encouraging, we are excited to see what God has in store for us during this new waiting period and the next stage in our adoption process.
God has worked through the hearts and minds of so many people who have helped us along our way. We continue to be in awe of all of the support from our church family, earthly family, friends and even strangers! We are so blessed to have you all in our lives and we sincerely thank you!
Since we’ve started this process, the Holy Spirit has moved us in ways we did not imagine or foresee. We believe we have been given this waiting period for a reason and through much thought and prayer, we decided to update our home study from 1 to 2 children. So, when the IBESR in Haiti gives us a referral it will be for a sibling set of children ages 4 and under. Even though we can’t fully understand this waiting period, we believe that at least on our side of things God is continuing to prepare our family for this change. Right now is simply not the right time and it will all happen in His perfect timing.
Please continue to pray. Please pray for all of the waiting families in their different stages of adoption. Most of all pray for the orphaned children all over this earth waiting. Waiting to get their basic needs of food, shelter and clothing met. Waiting for someone to care for them, to hold them and to love them.
